About us, our story and future plans…
About us at Cranfield Retreat and Glamping, and our story and future plans, We ( Clare & Henry ) first came up with the idea of starting a small-scale glamping site when we moved to the neighbouring thatched Cottage in 2018.
Moving from a busy town in Essex to a remote Valley in Suffolk brought about a mix of emotions but mostly excitement and inner peace.
The dream
We’ve dreamt about doing this since we first viewed the property and realised what a very special place it is. We are huge nature lovers and felt in awe of the surroundings and abundance of nature.
After a few challenges along the way including a world pandemic..that wasn’t part of the plan! But after much hard work we have created a beautiful setting for when you stay and offer the following;
The accommodation
• Bespoke Shepherds Hut designed and lovingly built by Clare & Henry themselves. With so many quirky details, built in double bed and bunk beds….It is totally unique to Cranfield Retreat & Glamping. We have put so much love into this, to create a warm, yet bright and welcoming space, using vintage styling and inspired by nature as always.
• Traditional Mongolian Yurt – fully insulated with Yaks wool and fitted with brand new Go Eco Adventurer multi fuel stove, offering a cosy hideaway. Electric lights and one double plug, plus solar powered and battery lights. Bohemian styling in neutral tones, rugs, cushions and throws.
Both of the above sleep 4 and offer all the luxuries you would normally expect.
• We offer camping for a limited time each year and for certain events.
On site is a newly built Cartlodge – utility building offering lots of amenities including;
• Kitchen • Dining • Lounge area • Toilets • Showers (including disabled toilet and wet room facilities) and underfloor heating.
The building is the hub of the site, providing a welcoming space for our guests to share, prepare food, dine, or celebrate that special occasion.
Weekend retreats and Workshops
In addition to Glamping, Cranfield will be offering a number of weekend well-being retreats, workshops and holistic therapies and events over time.
As a psychotherapist Clare recognised the healing potential of the surroundings. The healing energy and stunning countryside, offer an ideal place of sanctuary and retreat .
Set in the heart of the Stour Valley and surrounded by open countryside we offer a real escape to the country where we focus on health and well-being.
Retreats and workshops to include meditation, relaxation, eco-therapy, mindful walking, art, music, rèiki, eft, yoga and dance.
Further details will be updated on our Facebook page @longmelfordglamping . We hope it will become a “healing place” for those looking to get away from the stresses of life and unwind.
